    REVOLUTIONIZING PERSONAL HEALTH

HELIX is a creating a decentralized Data DAO focused on human genetic information. Built on the Vana network, it allows individuals to upload their genetic data, securely store it, and participate in a user-owned system that facilitates research on the data.

We're moving towards a future where individuals have full control over their genetic data. A future where your DNA isn't a commodity to be sold, but a personal asset to be protected and leveraged for your own benefit and the benefit of consenting communities.

    Exponential Cost Reduction

Over the past two decades, the cost of sequencing a human genome has plummeted dramatically. In the early 2000s, sequencing a full genome could cost upwards of $100,000; today, it can be done for under $500. This rapid reduction in cost has made genome sequencing accessible to a much wider range of individuals, offering people the ability to own and control their genetic data. As sequencing costs continue to fall, more individuals will be able to participate in HELIX, empowering users to monetize and benefit from their genetic information. This affordability is a key enabler of Project HELIX’s vision of decentralized, user-owned data control.

    Active User Engagement

HELIX is built on the principle of active user engagement. Unlike centralized genetic companies where individuals often receive minimal feedback, HELIX empowers users to actively manage their data. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in DAO governance, vote on data usage policies, and make informed decisions about sharing their genetic information. Additionally, users will be able to track research conducted on their data and receive updates on any scientific breakthroughs in which their contributions played a role. This direct engagement ensures that users are not just passive providers of data but active stakeholders in both the research and its outcomes.

    Decentralization is Empowerment

Centralized organizations have historically profited from the sale and exploitation of user data, with little transparency or compensation to the individuals providing the information. By decentralizing the control of genetic data through a Data DAO, HELIX empowers users to become active participants in the decisions made about their biological data. This aligns with a larger shift toward decentralization in technology and finance, where power is distributed and transparency is a core principle.

Informed Consent and Ethical Use of Data:

Beyond ownership, HELIX also promotes the idea of informed consent in data usage. In centralized systems, users often lack understanding of how their genetic information is used or sold. HELIX ensures that users have control over the access and use of their data through DAO governance, creating an ethical framework for the responsible use of genetic data in research and commercial applications. Every user has the right to know exactly how their data is being applied and to receive fair compensation for its use.
